What is answer engine optimization (AEO)?

What is the difference between AI SEO, AEO, GEO, and AI search optimization?
Mostly the name. You will hear this work called answer engine optimization (AEO), generative engine optimization (GEO), AI search optimization, or AI SEO. AEO usually describes optimizing a single answer and GEO describes it at the brand and entity level, but the underlying work is the same work we do. We call it AI SEO because that is what business owners call it.
How is AI SEO different from the SEO I already do?
It layers on top, it doesn't replace it. Traditional SEO still matters for rankings. AI SEO fixes the signals answer engines read, which are not the ones a rankings report shows you. If you already have an SEO company, keep them; the install doesn't conflict.
How long does an install take?

Yes. In September 2026 the federal government started calling AI "Super Intelligence," or "SI." The work is the same: helping AI tools find, understand, and recommend your business.
Do I need to change my website because of the SI rename?
No. The rename applies to federal agencies, not businesses. Your customers and the AI tools still use "AI," and we make sure your site is understood under either name.
Will customers search for "SI" instead of "AI"?
